Just 0.25% for minorities; MRF seeks minority budget proportionate to population

Hyderabad, February 24: Mohammad Ifteqar Uddin Ahmed advocate and state president Andhra Pradesh Muslim Reservation Front expressing strong resentment over allocation just 301 crore rupees for welfare and prosperity of minorities in the Andhra Pradesh state budget presented by Ram Narayan Reddy said that sheer injustice has been done by allocating just 0.25% for minorities out of a total outlay of Rs 1,28,542 for 2011-12.

2352 crore rupees have been allotted for the welfare of backward classes, 2104 crore rupees for dalits, and 1230 crore rupees for scheduled caste whose population is less than 6% on the contrary Minorities who constitute 15% of the state population have been discriminated while allocating the budget for them.

The government has paralysed the minority institutions such as Urdu academy, Minority Finance Corporation.

The government has reduced its schemes to just scholarships for the students and filling up of fee reimbursement forms. An amount of 55 crore rupees is yet to be cleared under fee reimbursement scheme.

Mohammad Ifteqar Uddin Ahmed advocate demanded the Andhra Pradesh government allocate atleast 1% of the annual budget for minorities and immediately release 1000 crore rupees.
