Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today urged Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to release Rs 850 cr pending for some time towards payment of wages for workers under central sponsored schemes to provide employment.
Along with TRS MPs including Government representative in Delhi S Venugopala Chary, N Malla Reddy, P Srinivas Reddy, Krishna Rao met Tomar and urged him to take immediate steps to release the funds as per the norms. Rao discussed on the implementation of the scheme and sought the release of the funds. Before bifurcation, the previous government failed to take up PMGSY 2 scheme works and laid only 800 km roads against the sanction of 2000 km roads. This incurred a huge loss of Rs 850 cr including Rs 300 cr arrears of wages for workers and Rs 550 cr material component funds to Telangana he said.
The Minister said that they have urged the union minister to release the funds and boost employment works for the cause of the poor workers. Stating that the state government is constructing about 30 lakhs of toilets at a cost of Rs 3000 cr as part of Swach Telangana he urged Tomar to release funds under Swach Bharath scheme for the same.
