Islamabad, September 19: Muslims offered Jumatul Wida with religious solemnity and fervour and offered special prayers for unity and prosperity of the country and Ummah.
Prayer leaders offered special prayers for welfare of Pakistan and Muslim Ummah. Hundreds of people from different parts of the two cities offered Juma prayer at Faisal Mosque.
Prayer leaders in sermons highlighted the significance of Jumatul Wida and Ramazan. They urged the faithful to make a solemn pledge to follow the teachings of Islam in letter and spirit.
The police officials were deputed outside the mosques to ensure maximum security. Talking to this news agency, Irfan Shehzad, a resident of I-10, who offered prayer at a local mosque, said it was heartening that Juma prayers were peaceful.
The government has beefed up security in the twin cities. At many places security personnel checked people coming for Juma prayer.
The Islamabad Capital Territory administration had taken a number of measures to keep peace during prayers. Similarly, the local mosques administration had also deputed their own security personnel for security of faithful.
Rallies also held across the country to mark the Al-Quds Day. Religious and politico-religious parties and organizations in all major cities and towns arranged rallies after Friday prayers to show sympathy with the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, arrangements for Mahafil-e-Shabeena had been made in the provincial metropolises and at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad from 27 to 29 Ramazan. During these Mahafil, Quran is recited all night and completed in just three days.
