Australia Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop on Tuesday thanked India for the speedy evacuation of her country’s nationals from strife-hit Yemen.
Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin shared the gratitude expressed by Bishop to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj via twitter.
“‘Thank you India’ Australian FM @JulieBishopMP thanked EAM @SushmaSwaraj for India’s evacuation of Australian nationals from #Yemen,” he posted.
Earlier in the day, Swaraj and Bishop chaired the 10th India- Australia Framework Dialogue in the national capital. During her three-day visit to India, she has also met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti.
Indian forces have evacuated over 5600 persons from Yemen , including an approximate 4640 Indian nationals and 960 foreign nationals from 41 countries. (ANI)
