Julia Roberts slams immigrant family separation

Washington: Hollywood actor Julia Roberts, while promoting her television series ‘Homecoming’ at the Toronto International Film Festival, said that family separation is something that she is sick over.

Commenting of the recent immigrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, Julia told variety that there are so many terrible things that happen every day and that she wants to do everything that will keep this issue in the forefront.

In an attempt to reunite the separated families, Roberts has collaborated with ‘Be Love Apparel’ benefit ‘Together Rising’, a non-profit organization.

Julia recently posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with “We Are Family”. In the caption, she wrote, “Let’s stand for families!! I’m so inspired by the work my friends at @beloveapparel are doing with their “positive impact ” #wearefamily campaign.”

“This situation in which families have been separated at the US border is a human rights crisis and is far from resolved. As of now, 572 children have not been reunited. Approx. 400 parents have been deported without their children,” she added.

From being a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 U.S. Presidential election to being a critique of trump administration, the ‘Eat Pray Love’ actor has always been open about her political views.

Roberts walked the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday to promote her first television series ‘Homecoming’.
