Judge who pronounced verdict in Mecca Masjid Blast case resumes his duty

Hyderabad: The fourth additional metropolitan sessions judge, K Ravinder Reddy who had pronounced the Mecca Masjid blast verdict, acquitting five accused in the terror blast case has resumed his duties on Thursday.

The Judge citing ‘personal reasons’ had quit hours after pronouncing the Judgement along with applying for voluntary retirement. He had acquitted right-wing activist Aseemanand and five other accused in the terror blast case on April 16.

According to the AP Pension rules, those who want to avail voluntary retirement has to file their representations three months prior to the date of their retirement. But the Judge is retiring this June 2018 after he attains the age of 58 and he did not make the representation as per the norms.

Now its completely up to the High Court’s discretion to consider his case of voluntary retirement after reviewing his records.

The High Court in 2016 had suspended K Ravinder Reddy and other 11 subordinate Judges for protesting against the appointment of AP Judges in Telangana Court. The suspension was, however, revoked within a month.

The HC on Thursday had suspended two more district judges on corruption charges.

S Radhakrishna Murthy, second additional metropolitan sessions judge at Hyderabad Criminal Courts Complex, Nampally, and K Ranga Rao, special judge in Mahbubnagar, both were suspended after the HC found allegations of the lawyers against the two to be true.
