Jr lawyers’ custody extended till Aug 14 in cash-for-bail case

The ACB Special Court at Purani Haveli on Thursday extended the judicial remand of junior lawyer Aditya, who is facing the charges of colluding with other accused in the cash-for-bail scam, till August 14.

The Special Court gave this direction when the officials produced him in the court following the expiry of his custody. On court’s directions, the officials shifted him to Cherlapally Central Jail. Aditya is the eight accused in cash-for-bail case involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. He was working with E Umamaheshwar Rao, the defence lawyer of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.

A history-sheeter – Yadagiri, another accused arrested along with others, has reportedly confessed during his custodial interrogation that he gave Rs one crore to Aditya. On the basis of his ‘confessional statement’ of Yadagiri that he also met Janardhan Reddy’s relatives at the advocate’s office, Umamaheshwar Rao was summoned and grilled in the case. (INN)
