Lok Satta party founder-president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan today welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes and termed it as a “very bold and dramatic”.
In a statement here on Wednesday, JP stated that demonetization must be the beginning, not the end of reform process. He stressed the need for more such steps as the demonetization does not touch foreign assets and big corruption will take place now via depositing money in foreign accounts, he added.
Welcoming the steps announced by Narendra Modi, Jayaprakash asserted that the nation should stand by the PM on this far-reaching step. Biggest opponents will be vote-buying politicos and corruption babus, he opined and urged the people to stand by the Prime Minister.
Taking a dig at the Opposition parties for criticizing the PM’s decision on demonetization, the Lok Satta president said “It is unfortunate that these parties were politicizing even such bold and strong measures. We must forget partisan politics and stand united to transform India”, he added.
Commenting on the US president elections, Jayaprakash said victory of Donald Trump is a lesson of reforms. (NSS)
