Urging Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to improve as leader of the House and not as party leader, Lok Satta party chief and MLA Dr Jaya Prakash Narayan has said that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government would have to stand as a culprit in the people’s court if it failed to place all the relevant files concerning 26 GOs initialed by the six ministers on the Speaker’s table.
Addressing the media on the Assembly premises here on Thursday, JP said that the government ought to clarify whether the six ministers have tendered their resignations in the wake of notices issued by the Supreme Court. He strongly felt that the people have to know about what had happened before issuing the controversial 26 GOs.
Finding fault with the government’s statement that the Opposition parties can view the 26 GOs in the Internet, Dr JP said that files issued in 2005 and 2008 were not available in the Internet. He said that the House has a right to enquire about the details of the files of 26 GOs. The government also has responsibility of giving factual information to the people and the august House. As the House has given birth to the government, it has every right to seek the information and the government too was answerable to the House.
Stating that the government asking the Opposition to see the GOs and files in the Internet was nothing but dishonoring the House, JP said the government was behaving in a timid manner. He also said that it was not correct on the part of the government to question why the ministers tender their resignations with mere issuance of notices by the Supreme Court. He said the government has to own responsibility even if guilt was not proved in the court.
Stating that the government was making “foolish” argument with regard to the Supreme Court notices to the ministers, JP said the continuing deadlock in the House was very dangerous to the democracy. He said that the six tainted ministers would not lose anything if they were sincere even though something happened behind the screen. (NSS)
