Tirupati, December 11: Demanding ‘Samikya Andhra’ and in protest against Telangana state, journalists belonging to various unions unitedly took out a huge procession in the temple town of Chittoor district.

Hundreds of journalists, including print and electronic media led by APUWJ leader Mr Dinesh, APUWF leader Delhibabu and Tirupati Press Club Mr Sridhar took out a huge procession yesterday from the Press Club to the busy Four Pillar function where they shouted for an integrated Andhra.

Traffic came to a halt for more than an hour following the procession. Later talking to the press, the journalists leaders demanded Praja Rajyam party chief Mr K Chiraanjeevi, who belongs to Andhra and was elected from Tirupati assembly constituency should resign from his post immediately and should give request to the Rayalaseema people.

“The central governments midnight announcement over Telangana state was unfortunate”, the leaders said adding, “We always support ‘Integrated Andhra’ and demand greater Rayalaseema by announcing Rs 4,000 crore package if Separate Telangana was formed”.

Meanwhile, denouncing the Centre’s announcement, Telugu Desam party activists burnt an effigy of UPA Chairperson and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi near the Railway station.

As manay as 100 activists led by TDP leader Mrs Vikayalakshmi and Narasimha Yadav took out a procession to the railway station circle where they burnt an effigy of Sonia Gandhi by raising slogans against Centre’s decision over Telangana issue without taking in account of Rayalaseema and Andhra people views.
