Journalist Marzieh Amiri sentenced to 10 yrs jail, 147 lashes

Marzieh Amiri was among a number of labor activists who had been arrested during their protest demonstration in Tehran on the International Labor Day.

A revolutionary court of Iran has sentenced Marzieh Amiri, a journalist and student activist to 10 years and 6 months in prison and 147 lashes.

Presided by the notorious judge, Mohammad Moghiseh, the trial of Marzieh Amiri was held in Tehran on August 13, 2019. Marzieh’s sister, Samira Amiri wrote on her social media account that her sister was sentenced to 147 lashes and 10 and a half years in prison.

According to NCRI Women Committee, at the time of interrogation, Marzieh Amiri suffered from epileptic seizures due to physical and psychological pressures. In spite of that Judge Moghiseh has opposed her bail and temporary release for medical treatment.
