Journalist injured in attack

Mumbai, July 13: A journalist of a Marathi daily was today seriously injured in an attack by unidentified persons at Ambejogai in Maharashtra’s Beed district, police said.

Datta Ambekar, who works with `Zunjar Neta’, published from Beed, received a phone call in the evening asking him to reach a spot for some “important” news, they said.

When the scribe reached the spot, one person threw chilli powders in his eyes while others thrashed him, fracturing his legs, they said.

Ambekar was taken to a hospital in Ambejogai.

The motive behind the attack is unclear and no arrest has been made so far, police said.
