Journalism is a social responsibility, which can influence lakhs of people, said Warangal Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Yadaiah.
Speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Vartalap- Media Workshop’ conducted by Press Information Bureau, Hyderabad here on Sunday, he said that the with the available latest technology, journalists of the present generation is reporting news in a more professional manner.
Yadaiah asked the journalists to give their best towards the marginalized sections of the society for their development. The impact of the journalists is more on the society than any other profession, he stated.
Earlier T.V.K Reddy, Director – Press Information Bureau, Hyderabad briefed the gathering on the functioning of the PIB through power-point-presentation. He said that PIB carries the public Relations activities of the Central government. Around 130-journalists from different parts of the district attended the both sessions of the media-workshop.
Dilip Reddy, Executive Editor of Sakshi Telugu Daily, speaking on the trends in journalism, said that journalists should act like as the linkage between government and the society. He requested the rural journalists to disseminate the useful information for their audience. N.Ramachandraiah, Professor –National Institute of Technology and Editor of Chekumiki science magazine requested the media to give adequate coverage for the Science and Technology issues.
Stevenson, Professor in Journalism, Osmania University spoke on the latest happenings in the journalism field around the world. Conscious use of Communication is the development journalism, he said. R. Ravikantha Reddy, Senior Correspondent, The Hindu and Uma Maheswara Rao, Principal, Rachana College of Journalism also spoke on the occasion. (INN)
