Jordan has become the first Arab state to offer prisoner/hostage swap to ISIS.
Mohammad Momani in a statement to state-run media said that Jordan was ready to trade the Iraqi prisoner Sajida al-Rishawi from death row in exchange for a Jordanian fighter pilot Mu’ath al-Kasaesbeh, who has been held by ISIS since his fighter jet crashed in Syria in December.
The militants threatened to slay the pilot and a Japanese journalist if the deadline was not met within 24 hours.
Nasser Jude, the Foreign Minister of Jordon said that his country would release Sajida al-Rishawi if ISIS released al-Kassasbeh.
Meanwhile, the families of al-Kassasbeh and Goto requested their governments to do everything they can to save the hostages before time runs out.
