Jolt to Jagan’s padayatra as Court rejects his plea for exemption of personal appearance

CBI Special Court  today dismissed the petition of YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy seeking exemption from personal appearance in the court from November 2 to May 2.

The court order is a jolt to Jaganmohan Reddy, who is scheduled to commence his padyatra in Andhra Pradesh. A petition was filed on behalf of Jagan seeking exemption from his personal appearance before the court during the period since he would be undertaking a ‘padayatra’ across Andhra Pradesh to know problems being faced by the people. Jagan’s counsel also contended that it would be difficult for him to turn up personally before the court for every hearing during that period.
The court agreed with the CBI and ED contention that exemption from personal appearance of the accused in the cases would cause delay in the trial since High Court had instructed not to delay the trial and complete it early. However, the YSRCP is contemplating to change the schedule of party supremo’s padyatra. (NSS)
