Midnapore, April 08: In the biggest haul since anti- Maoist operations began last June, the joint forces have seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in West Midnapore district and police said the exercise will continue till the entire area is sanitised.
The arms and explosives were seized from Mathurapur under Salboni police station, and Paluibani and Jharnadiha under Binpur police station, West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Manoj Verma said.
The seizures included AK-47 and INSAS rifles, nine SBBL and DBBL rifles, a huge number of cartridges, detonators, gelatin sticks, crude bombs, splinters, one km wire, besides fax and xerox machines, computers, printers, CDs and electronic gadgets.
“So far it is the largest-ever recovery of arms, ammunition and explosives, including fireams looted during February 15 Maoist attack on the Silda EFR camp in West Midnapore district,” he said.
Police and CRPF uniforms were also seized.
