Mumbai, March 22: The Maharashtra government today said Joint CP (Crime)?of Mumbai police would investigate the SMS threat to Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse.
Making a statement in the Lower House, Home Minister R R Patil said he had seen the SMS and the number has been provided to Joint CP (Crime) Rakesh Maria for investigation.
He said the Thane police commissioner’s office has also received a call from the same number last night.
“The person sounded drunk and used abusive language. The police have identified some location and investigations are on,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Devendra Phadanvis (BJP) raised the issue of the SMS threat saying their leader had been threatened and the government was remaining silent.
