London: Former Foreign Minister of UK, Mr. Boris Johnson tendered apology on his previous humiliating comments against women who wear Hijab.
Prime Ministerial candidate of Conservative Party of UK, Mr. Johnson is making an attempt to poll more number of votes for his selection as a candidate for the post.
Another contestant for Prime Ministerial berth of UK, Pakistani origin, Mr. Sajid Javeed who is at present Minister of Home Office demanded that anti-Islamic tendencies in Conservative Party should be abolished.
In a TV interview which was telecast on Wednesday, Mr. Johnson had revealed that his great grandfather who was a Muslim had come to UK. His name was Ali Kamal. During Ottoman Kingdom, his grandfather worked as a journalist and politician.
In his apology, Mr. Johnson told that earlier, he had termed Hijab clad Muslim women as “post box” and “bank robbers”. He said that these sentences are 20-30 years old and they have been taken out of context to magnify his thoughts. He said that he tenders apology, if these remarks had created hatred.
It may be mentioned that in the run for Prime Ministerial berth, Mr. Johnson polled 143 out of 313 votes whereas Environment Minister, Mr. Michael polled 51 and Minister for Home Office, Mr. Sajid Javeed got 38 votes.
