New York: US National Security Adviser John Bolton has warned Iran that there will be “hell to pay” if it harms the US, its citizens or allies. Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump accused Iran of sowing “chaos, death and destruction” across the Middle East. In response to the Trump’s remark, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani criticised the Trump administration for its hostility.
Bolton is also the former US envoy to the UN while speaking at an anti-Iran conference in New York on Tuesday said the “murderous regime” of “mullahs in Tehran” would face significant consequences if they continued to “lie, cheat and deceive”.
The US national security adviser said, “So, I might imagine they would take me seriously when I assure them today that if you cross us, our allies or our partners if you harm our citizens if you continue to lie cheat and deceive. Yes, there will indeed be hell to pay.”
