Mumbai, March 19: Certainly, it was quite enlightening for the duo, as they were oblivious regarding many facets of the ceremony. But there was twist in the tale. And had someone not intervened, they would have actually become a couple.
About the so-called marriage
The incident took place on the sets of Vipul Shah’s ‘Force’ where the wedding sequence was being shot.
The situation turned so real that even the Pandit ji (priest), who was hired to chant mantras did not stop in between. According to the sources, it was hilarious.
“They almost entered a wedlock during the portrayal,” said a source.
A unit member revealed, “The pheras were on in the sequence. Every thing was going so smooth and perfect that no one realized both of them had already taken six pheras. They were about to step for seventh (last) round, but were stopped abruptly.”
Vipul Shah’s take on this
Vipul Shah, who is known for maintaining perfection levels, could not control his laughter. He said, “The pandit went non-stop. Probably he wasn’t aware of shooting process. He kept asking John and Genelia to complete the process. But thank God the situation was controlled well in time.”
Sources said, “The shoot was going on near a temple in Malshej Ghat. To maintain the authenticity of scene, the ceremony was organized keeping all the rituals in mind. A local Mahraj was engaged for the sequence. But he could not distinguish between reel and real and went on.
“Also, the interruption level was low because the scene was being shot in a multi-camera setup where retakes don’t happen frequently.”
Director Nishikant Kamath, who was behind the camera kept saying cut, cut, but Mahraj did not stop. Eventually someone at the sets realized that John-Genelia are entering the seventh round. Then someone intervened and requested Mahraj to stop.
John’s reaction
John could not be contacted, but he broke into laughter after the incident. It did not end here as Mahraj insisted to complete the process as leaving it in between amounts to disrespect.”
“It was difficult to convince him,” said a source.
Amid all this, the things went so nice that Vipul Shah got exactly what he was looking for, a great shot.
