Mumbai, April 15: John Abraham is an actor on hold. The latest film to add to his list of movies facing issues is Abbas Tyrewalla’s 1-800 Love co-starring the director’s wife Pakhi. It was shot mid last year in London. Buzz is that the film’s delay is due to financial issues.
Bad decisions
Says a source, “A corporate that was financing the project is having a tough time after some bad decisions it made like investing in Ajit Pal Mangat’s Victory and also Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann. The fund has also invested hugely in Ramu’s Vivek Oberoi-starrer Rakta Charitra.”
Adds the source, “1-800 Love has cost a bomb and the makers are foreseeing little recovery on the project being a solo John-starrer.”
On course
Madhu Mantena, the producer of 1-800 Love maintains, “John is a big star. The film was shot in London during summer last year. The story needs a summer set-up. We will be shooting in London again in May-June. The film has names like A R Rahman and Abbas Tyrewalla associated with it and things are going on course.”
When asked about the corporate’s funding he says, “They are not associated with the project. 1-800 Love is being produce by me along with Saregama.”
This is Bipasha Basu’s beau’s fourth project to suffer. First Studio18 pulled out of newcomer Sabal Shekhawat’s action film starring John as the economics were not measuring up. The UTV produced Hook Ya Crook, directed by David Dhawan and starring John with Genelia D’Souza has been on hold for the longest. Add to this Nagesh Kukunoor’s Aashayein that has John with Sonal Sehgal. The film had its audio release in May 2008! However according to the producers (Percept) the movie is with Adlabs and they are looking at June or July release. The movie is complete and ready to go. And now it is 1-800 Love.
John’s last movie to release was Kabir Khan’s New York in June 2009 that had Katrina Kaif as co-star. While Dostana with Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra was in November 2008.
