The Central Bureau of Investigation, here today busted a major job racket where the tricksters collected Rs 29 lakh from victims on the pretext of appointing them in the Railways. The anti-corruption wing of CBI booked a head train number checker (TNC) of Central Railway’s Nagpur division and two others and conducted searches at a railway quarter of kingpin one Vijay Patel at Ajni Railway colony, the agency said. Vijay Patel, Head TNC Central Railway, Nagpur along with Birendra Singh Khairwar, Director of Ganesh HRD Agency and Archana Mehta from Manish Nagar, here and other unknown officials of Indian Railway were booked under relevant sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act on the basis of complaint from Raghuveer Singh Nirwan and Vishal Waghmare from Kamptee near here, it said. As per the FIR, the accused collected Rs 29 lacs from the complainants in lieu of getting job in Central Railway. On completion of the medical examination at Central Railway Headquarter in Mumbai, the candidates were given fake appointment letters including one to the complainant. When complainants enquired with the Central Railway about the recruitment and appointment letter, they were told that the railways were not making any appointments. After registering offences, CBI’s ACB division conducted searches at the places of the accused and recovered incriminating documents including fake recruitment letters, list of candidates and appointment letters, letterheads of various departments including Railways.
