JNU violence: Two accused approach court for bail

New Delhi, November 27: Two out of four accused, arrested for allegedly molesting students on JNU campus, have approached a Delhi court for bail after a magisterial court earlier dismissed their plea saying the offence was grave.

Nitin Kapoor and Amit Chauhan filed their bail applications before District and Sessions Judge Gurdeep Kumar who listed them for hearing on November 30.

The accused claimed the lower court gravely erred while declining the bail as most of the offences were bailable except the offence of trespass which was not made out against as they did not enter either any hostel or classroom.

Earlier, a magistrate rejected the bail plea of four accused, Nitin Kapoor, Gagan Kumar, Ankit Nanda and Amit Chauhan, saying the probe was still at an initial stage.

“The statements of the victims were yet to be recorded,” the court had said
