JNU row: Shutdown across Kashmir today

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir today against the crackdown on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and former Delhi University Professor SAR Geelani who have been slapped with charges of sedition by the Centre.

The shutdown call was given by the Hurriyat conference and other Separatist organizations have supported this call.

All shops, business establishments are closed and public transport is off from the roads. The authorities have deployed Police and Para Military forces at vital places to stop any kind of violent protests.

Meanwhile, with the three-day police custody of JNU students Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya ending today, the Delhi police will produce both of them in a makeshift court room following an order by the Delhi High Court to “maintain confidentiality” during their remand proceedings. (ANI)
