JNTUH Prof suspended for harassing girl students

An Assistant Professor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here has been booked for allegedly harassing girl students of the institute.

Another case has been filed against a group of students of the Government-run varsity who allegedly assaulted the Professor, Devender, over the harassment issue, Cyberabad Police said today.

The faculty member was booked yesterday on a complaint filed by some students, who alleged he was harassing girl students and sought necessary action, KPHB Police Station Inspector V Sreekanth Goud said.

The academician has been charged with outraging the modesty of women, police said.

Meanwhile, Devender, too, lodged a complaint with the police accusing some students of beating him up over the matter. Following this, police today registered a case against a group of students, the Inspector said.

In a related development, students of the institute, including girls, staged a demonstration on the JNTU campus today and raised slogans seeking justice and stern action against the Professor.
