Ranchi: The Jharkhand government today decided to honour slain police driver Rumul Sevaiva and injured Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar and his body guard Mohammad Faizal with state Gallantry Awards for their ‘exemplary courage’ during an encounter with Maoists.
According to an official release, the government decided to honour Sevaiva posthumously and the injured SSP and his body guard for their undaunted role in countering Maoists at Dulmi village in neighbouring Khunti district.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das has given consent for recommendation of President’s Medal to the Ranchi SSP, which would be intimated to the Centre, the release said.
The release quoted Chief Minister Raghubar Das as saying the state’s development and honour were affected due to Maoists and they should know that the government would leave no stone unturned in uprooting Naxalites from the state.
Paying tributes to the slain driver at the Police Lines during the day, Das announced to provide job to his widow on compensatory grounds, while issuing directions to allot the present house to the family, the release said.
Das issued orders for promotion to injured Faisal from constable to head-constable, it added.
