J&K: Two people washed away while crossing river, One saved

New Delhi: Two villagers were washed away while trying to cross a river in Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir, Newsnation reported.

One of the villagers identified as Tehsil Basantgarh died while the other man identified as Suram Chand was rescued. The incident occurred while the duo was crossing a river in Ramnagar-Basantgarh areas when a sudden flash flood washed them away on Monday.

“Two people were washed away in the Chhatrari Nallah on Wednesday evening on Ramnagar-Basantgarh road,” the official said.

While the flash floods have also damaged other places in the region damaging a house in kathua district.
