Jammu and Kashmir: Ever since the lockdown in Jammu Kashmir soon after revoking the state’s special status, all communications with the outside world had been cut-off.
Now sources familiar with the situation inside have told the ruling government has decided to restore SMS, voice call services for prepaid mobile users across the state, NDTV reported.
Voice calls and SMS have been finally restored for prepaid mobile connections in J&K said officials of Union territory today, relaxing some of the severe restrictions enforced last August.
2G internet services will also be restored with some restrictions on postpaid SIM cards in Bandipora and Kupwara districts of Kashmir and 10 other districts of Jammu according to senior officer Rohit Kansal.
He added the mobile connectivity on such SIM cards, the telecom service providers will have to verify the credentials of the subscribers to give them connectivity.
The Internet service providers have also been directed to provide fixed- line internet connectivity in all the 10 districts of Jammu region and two districts, Kupwara and Bandipora, in North Kashmir, Mr Kansal said.
