J&K to have new industrial policy soon: Ganai

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government will soon introduce a new industrial policy with an aim to benefit the industry in all three regions of the state.

“The new Industrial Policy would be comprehensive in nature encompassing all the requisite parameters needed for catalysing industrial activity besides being pro-entrepreneurs,” Advisor to Governor Kurshid Ganai said.

Due care has been taken to incorporate the suggestions of various stakeholders including Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the new Industrial Policy to make it a holistic policy framework, he said while addressing a seminar “Sustainable Infrastructure – A Key Enabler” organised by CII J&K Chapter.

Necessary measures have already been undertaken for setting up new industrial estates in the state, besides augmenting the already existing ones, he added.

Maintaining that infrastructure is key to development and catalysing industrial growth, Ganai said Jammu and Kashmir should take cue from other states and countries with similar agro-climatic conditions to augment industrial infrastructure in the State in tune with its environment.

Ganai favoured PPP mode to augment industrial sector.

“We should also be focusing on the IT sector as it has huge potential in J&K in view of the climatic conditions and other related things besides the endeavour should also be on setting up of electronics and related industries,” he said.
