J&K keen to improve connectivity to Ladakh: Omar

Leh (J&K), June 13: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said his government is keen on improving connectivity to Ladakh to make it an all-year destination.

“My government is working on constructing tunnels in Zojila and Rohtang to integrate the region with the rest of the country”, Omar said while inaugurating three-day Singhey Khabab Sindhu festival, here yesterday.

He said the festival has proved a huge success and is playing a key role in promotion of enchanting locales of Ladakh region.

Omar said boring of tunnel at Rohtang will commence by end of this month whereas Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will prepare a Draft Project Report (DPR) for Zojila tunnel within next one-and-a-half year.

He said the coalition Government is committed for speedy all round development of Ladakh region assuring that all resources are being exploited for the purpose.
