J&K to host 55th national school tennis ball cricket

Jammu, December 31: Jammu and Kashmir will host the 55th under-19 boys and girls National School Games in Tennis Ball Cricket here from tomorrow.

The five-day event, being held under the aegis of School Games Federation of India, will see 12 states of the country taking part, the Minister for Youth Services, Sports, Medical and Technical Education R S Chib told reporters here today.

Around 500 players and officials are expected to participate in the event.

The matches will be played on league-cum-knockout basis. For smooth conduct of the matches, several playing fields have been identified which include Mini Stadium, Parade Ground, Playing Field No.1 Gandhi Nagar and Government Boys Middle Model School, Satwari Cantt., he said.

The inaugural and concluding ceremonies will be held at Mini Stadium at Parade ground Jammu on January 1 and January 5, 2010 respectively.
