J&K govt issued 51,622 arms licenses in two years

Jammu, March 01: Jammu and Kashmir government issued 51,622 arms licenses in the last two years in the state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today.

While replying to the question of PDP MLA Choudhary Zulfikar during Question Hour in the Assembly, Abdullah said in a written reply, “51,622 arms licenses have been issued by the District Magistrates and State Home Department during the past two years in the state”.

He said the highest number of 15,876 such licenses were issued in Doda district, followed by 9,976 in Ramban district, 6,297 in Srinagar district, 6,073 in Jammu district and 5,154 in Kishtwar district.

Similarly, 3,153 arms licenses were issued in Poonch district, 3,170 in Udhampur district, 551 in Rajouri district, 484 in Samba district, 236 in Kupwara district, 199 in Kathua district and 151 in Anantnag district, the Chief Minister said.
