J&K govt distributes cheques under Indira Awas Yojana

Srinagar, August 11:Jammu and Kashmir government today distributed cheques amounting to Rs 31 lakh among 135 persons under Indira Awas Yojana in Ganderbal district. The cheques were distributed among the beneficiaries by the forest minister Mian Altaf Ahmad at a function organised by Rural Development department at Kangan 40 kilometres from here, an official spokesman said.

The Minister said that during current financial year 400 families would be provided financial assistance of Rs 1.45 crore under the Yojana for construction of residential houses. He said Rs four crore would be utilised under Nation Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA) in the tehsil.

“Poor and downtrodden people are part of our society and it is our prime duty to redress their grievances”.
