JK Govt admits arrest of youth who ‘disappeared’

Jammu, March 03: After the opposition alleged the disappearance of a youth from the Rajpura Assembly constituency in south Kashmir last month, Jammu and Kashmir government today said he had been arrested as he was suspected to be a militancy sympathiser.

“Ashraf Wani was apprehended by the police because of being involved in a couple of cases. He is required to be in custody for further investigation,” Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar told Legislative Assembly here.

Wani had allegedly been used as a courier of arms and ammunition by the militant outfit, he said and added he was linked to slain senior Hizbul militant Sakib.

PDP member Syed Bashir had raised the issue of disappearance of the youth from Drabshalla in Rajpura of Pulwama district.
