J&K: Five individuals booked under Narcotics Act

Jammu: The J&K Police have arrested five individuals from Katha and Sambha districts on charges of drug peddling while seized over Rs 4.7 lakh cash from their possession.

The individuals identified as Yuka Butt from Shopian and Mohammad Afzal of Anantnag possessed 11 kgs of poppy straw, Rs 4.75 lakh cash and were caught during the vehicle checking at Londi Morh on the Jammu-Pathankot highway in Kathua district., a police spokesman said.

In a similar case, Police seized 6 grams of heroin from Samba district’s Ramgarh area from Kuldeep Raj of Ramgarh and Ranju Choudhary of Arnia along with a two-wheeler in a  surprise checking near Chak Jhanda in Ramgarh.

In yet another incident reported from Samba district, Anil Kumar, a resident of Gowal, was arrested with four grams of heroin.

All five individuals have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
