Srinagar [India]: In Jammu and Kashmir, eight candidates of different political parties, including People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), National Conference (NC) and Indian National Congress (INC) today filed their nomination papers for Legislative Council elections.
The candidates filed the nominations before State Assembly Secretary, Mohammad Ramzan who is also Returning Officer for the elections.
The PDP candidates namely Abdul Qayoom Dar from Jammu Province and Yasir Reshi from Kashmir Province filed their nominations.
BJP candidates including Vikram Randhawa from Jammu Province, Pradeep Sharma from District Poonch, Girdhari Lal Raina and Ashok Kumar Bhat from Kashmir Province filed their nomination papers.
The candidates of NC and INC including Aga Syed Mehmood from Kashmir Province and Thakur Balbir Singh from Jammu Province also filed their nomination papers in presence of the party leaders.
The biennial election for six seats of Legislative Council will be held on April 17. (ANI)
