JK CM reviews overall security situation in state

Srinagar, January 22: Ahead of Republic Day, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reviewed the overall security situation in the state with top officials of the army, police and civil administration, an official spokesman said.

The meeting here came at a time when militant activities have increased in the state and intelligence inputs suggest major strikes by militants ahead and during the Republic Day.

The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner, Home, Samuel Verghese, Director General Police Kuldeep Khoda, General Officer Commanding of 15 Corps Lt. Gen. N C Marwah, Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Naseem Lanker, Additional DG (CID) K Rajendra and IGP Kashmir Farooq Ahmed.

Police and paramilitary forces have also been put on alert across the state to thwart any attempt by militants to disturb Republic Day celebrations.
