Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday appealed to the Centre to award the two men who nabbed the Pakistani terrorist, involved in yesterday’s terror attack.
Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh talked to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over phone and batted for award to the two “brave hearts”, who apprehended the Pakistan terrorist along with members of Village Defence Committee (VDC) in Udhampur district yesterday, official sources said.
Rakesh Kumar and Vikramjeet, along with three other youth, were held hostage by Pakistani terrorist while he was fleeing from the spot of terror attack. They fought with the terrorist and captured him with the help of a few VDC members.
In New Delhi, Shiv Sena MP Rajkumar Dhoot today announced an award of Rs 5 lakh for the men who apprehended the terrorist.
In the Udhampur attack, two heavily-armed terrorists believed to be from Pakistan, had ambushed a convoy of BSF personnel and opened fire in which two constables and a militant were killed while another terrorist was caught alive in a manner identical to the nabbing of 26/11 Mumbai attacker Ajmal Kasab.
The Deputy Chief Minister also raised the matter with Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed, who directed state Home Secretary to ensure that the duo are awarded.
