In #JiVersusJi debate, Republic’s Arnab surprise BJP with key message

NEW DELHI: Senior journalist Arnab Goswami, has often known for hot-headed, noisy ‘debates’ and has been seen as a flag-bearer of the saffron party.

However, Goswami is a different man recently during a debate on March 12, 2019.

Gowswami was organising a TV debate #JiVersusJi on the controversy over Congress President Rahul Gandhi referring to Jaish-e-Mohammad’s chief as “Masood Azhar Ji”.

Goswami, who founded Republic TV with the help of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar took many by surprise with his unusual stand.

The panel includes BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia and lawyer Monika Arora joining the debate for the first time and defending the BJP on the controversy.

Addressing the Arora, Goswami said, “Monika Arora, before I go to Gaurav Bhatia, this was made a huge issue yesterday that Rahul Gandhi has said Masood Azhar ji. But now it emerges Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also called Hafiz Saeed Hafiz Ji. So this is egg on BJP’s face.”

On his concluding comments, he said, “On this debate, I must say that the Congress party has hit the equaliser today. The battle is still on. In the Ji Vs Ji contest, the moral of the story is; Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.”

Mud-slinging continues after the leading political parties posts video clip of their party leaders referring to terrorist with an affix ‘Ji.’

On Monday, Rahul had referred Jaish chief as “Masood Azhar ji” at a meeting of party workers which irked BJP leaders.

In retaliation, on Tuesday, Congress has fished out a video of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad saying ‘Hafiz Ji’

Also, several social media users reproduced old video of veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi addresses Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of 26/11 terror attacks as ‘Shri Hafiz Saeed.’

Another video of Sambit Patra ‘glorifying’ Afzal Guru goes viral on social media platforms much embarassment to the ruling saffron party.
