Hyderabad: Expressing displeasure at the Centre for its failure to take a call on bifurcation of Hyderabad High Court, TRS MP from Mahbubnagar Jithender Reddy today that the Centre take a speedy decision on the subject.
Raising the long-pending issue in the Lok Sabha today, the TRS leader accused the Centre of showing step-motherly attitude towards Telangana State. Jithender Reddy asked Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu to come out with clarity when the Centre would take a final call on the high court bifurcation as well other issues pending for almost two years.
Venkaiah Naidu, who read out the list of promises made to the Andhra Pradesh State should also disclose the steps being taken with regard to those of the Telangana State. The Centre neglecting to take a call are: AIIMS, Horticulture University, Tribal Varsity, national status for irrigation projects, high court bifurcation and others, he charged. He also expressed concern over the Centre’s reluctance to intervene in the high court bifurcation issue.
The Centre has miserably failed to keep the promises mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Act pertaining to Telangana State, he charged. While most of the promises given to the neighboring Andhra Pradesh were being fulfilled, the Centre was delaying the promises made to the youngest State, he deplored. As the existing high court of Hyderabad was unable to deal with the heavy number of cases of the two Telugu States, there was an urgent need to divide the HC and set up one for Andhra Pradesh, the TRS MP asserted.
The Telangana Government was ready to allot land to Andhra Pradesh to set up its own High Court in Hyderabad and the existing court will remain with the Telangana, Jithender Reddy informed the Lok Sabha. It is high time that the Centre at least now take a final call on high court division as well as other issues got pending, he pleaded. (NSS)
