New Delhi: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday announced to extend its free 4G data and Jio services offer till March 31, 2017 as “Jio Happy New Year” offer.
Mr. Ambani said. “I want to announce today… that starting 4th of December, 2016, every new Jio user will get… Jio’s Data, Voice, Video and the full bouquet of Jio applications and content, absolutely free, till 31st March 2017. We are calling this the “JIO HAPPY NEW YEAR OFFER.”
He claimed. “In the first 3 months since its birth, Jio has grown faster than Facebook, WhatsApp or Skype. In 83 days, Jio has crossed 50 million customers on its 4G LTE ALL-IP wireless broadband network!”
Mr. Ambani said on average, a Jio customer is using 25 times more data than the average Indian broadband user.
As many as 52 million users of Reliance Jio are currently seen, with 50 million being added in 83 days.
In the new plan the users will be able to use 1 GB of free data everyday instead of 4GB that was previously in place for the first three months.
Reliance Jio, has launched its services on September 5 and offers free voice call. It has accused the incumbent players such as Airtel, Vodafone and Idea for not providing enough connectivity for completing calls even as the allegation has been vehemently denied by them.
In October, India’s telecom regulator slapped a combined penalty of Rs 3,050 crore on Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular for violating licence norms by denying adequate interconnection points to Reliance Jio Infocomm.
