Jimmy Kimmel helps raise $1.5 mn for cancer research

Washington: American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel helped raise USD 1.5 million to support childhood cancer research.

The fundraising event was organised by the UCLA and was attended by Hollywood celebrities like Timothy Olyphant and Rebecca Metz to name a few, reported Page Six.

During the auction, Jimmy Kimmel invited donors to his barn for a meal cooked by Adam Perry Lang and Animal’s Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, which raised USD 300,000.

The charity, which was started by a 4-year old cancer patient Alex Scott in 2004, raised around USD 2,000 by selling lemonades for the cause.

After Alex’s death, her lemonade stand became a big organisation, and has raised over USD 150 million to date.
