A jilted lover allegedly murdered his beloved today and committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in Sidhpur village, about 20 kms from here.
According to police, Neelam alias Neelu (25), a resident of Jandwal village in Hoshiarpur, was allegedly having an
affair with 35-year-old Murli.
The father of four, and a resident of Maluk Mattan village, was enraged when he got to know that Neelam’s parents
were marrying her to someone else.
He had approached Neelam, who was staying with her aunt in Sidhpur village, to continue their relationship, but she
did not agree after which he murdered her by slitting her throat.
Later in the afternoon, Murli too consumed a poisonous substance and committed suicide, police added.
