Guntur, April 08: A jilted lover allegedly threw acid on a minor girl before pouring it on himself in Tenali town here, police said. 23-year-old K Subba Rao befriended the 16-year-old girl, a ninth-standard student in Venigella village, two years ago.
Gradually their friendship turned into an affair, they said. However, since the last two months the girl was ignoring Rao, who worked in a tea stall in Darsi village, police said.
When the accused came to know that the girl has come to visit her sister at Tenali village, he went there and attacked the victim with acid before pouring it on himself, they said. Both were rushed to Tenali government hospital.
The girl, who is stated to be in a critical condition, has been shifted to a hospital in nearby Guntur, police said.
