Kadapa, September 21: A 27-year-old Home Guard, Ravishankar, who was posted at the Road Transport Authority’s office here, attempted suicide in the small hours of Monday.
According to the police, Ravishankar, who hails from Khajipeta, has been in love with a girl from Proddatur, who also happens to be a relative of him, for three years.
When his proposal was not accepted by the girl, he resorted to the extreme step.
Ravishankar, who has been on duty at the RTA office for the past one month, performed his duty till the midnight and, thereafter, consumed 55 sleeping pills.
This morning a sweeper saw Ravishankar in an unconscious state with the bottle of sleeping pills and a suicide note lysing beside him, and immediately alerted motor vehicle inspector Varaprasad who took Ravishankar to RIMS Hospital with the help of the `108’ emergency service.
From RIMS Ravishankar was shifted to SVR Ruia Hospital in Tirupati where his condition is reported to be critical. The Home Guard had written an eight-page long suicide note in which he had written that no one was responsible for his death and he was resorting to the extreme step out of heartbreak over rejection of his love. A case has been registered.
