Jihadist al-Nusra Front commander killed in Syrian air strike

Syria’s militant group al-Nusra Front has confirmed the death of its military chief in an air strike in northern Idlib province on Thursday.

The jihadist group, an affiliate of al-Qaeda in Syria, conceded that three other leaders were killed along with Abu Homam al-Shami.

A local news agency said that Nusra leaders were killed in a ‘unique operation’ carried out by the Syrian army in the al-Habit area, the BBC reported.

The rebel group has been formed in order to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The air strike came a day after the armed group claimed responsibility for a major attack on the Air Force Intellingence headquarters in the embattled city of Aleppo. (ANI)
