New Delhi: A top official of CBI revealed that actor Sooraj Pancholi and his father, actor Aditya Pancholi, could be charged with abetment of the alleged suicide of Jiah Khan, a British-American actress, model and singer who also appeared in Bollywood film.
Jiah Khan made her film debut in the 2007 Ram Gopal Verma film Nishabd for which she was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She was later noted for portraying a modern, independent woman in Ghajini which was the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2008. Her performance in the latter earned her significant acclaim. She last appeared in Sajid Khan’s romantic comedy Housefull, which was the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2010.
Jiah Khan was found dead in her flat in the Sagar Sangeet building in Juhu, Mumbai on 3rd June, 2013. Jiah, then 25, was in a relationship with Sooraj Pancholi, son of former actors Aditya and Zarina Wahab.
CBI official said that there are enough evidences for the two to be charged which includes letters written by Jiah to Sooraj and vice versa, emails, text messages, Facebook chats and phone call details.
CBI official also said that the investigating team found evidences which indicate that Aditya Pancholi used his influence to push Jiah out of the relationship and Sooraj used threatening tactics to push Jiah into depression.
