Jharkhand will seek mine lease details from CBI

Ranchi, January 04: The Jharkhand government today agreed to seek details from the CBI on allotment of lease to mining companies during Madhu Koda regime.

“We will ask them about it,” Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who holds the mining portfolio, said in reply to a query of JVM-P MLA Pradip Yadav during Question Hour in the state Assembly.

He was asked whether the government would get details from the CBI in the backdrop of a newspaper report alleging money changing hands during allocation of mines to various companies during Koda regime.

He also sought to know whether the government would make public the names of the companies and the amount they had given to get the lease.

The CBI is investigating into the Koda scam that surfaced in 2009 after a countrywide raid by IT/ED in 70 places across the country.
