Jharkhand tightens noose around Maoists

Ranchi, March 11: Jharkhand has launched a high-tech anti-Maoist operation using helicopters and specialised security personnel to fight the Naxal menace in the state, a senior police officer said today.

“Backed by two helicopters, the operation has been continuing from Tuesday evening. That night itself securitymen demolished a Maoist training camp and seized huge explosive making materials in East and West Singhbhum districts,” he said.

Besides the 14 companies of para-military forces, personnel of Jharkhand JAGUAR and COBRA had been deployed to track and bust Maoist hideouts, he said.

The operation was launched two days after the Chief Minister, Shibu Soren told the state assembly that his government would fully cooperate with the Centre’s move to eliminate the Maoists.
