Jharkhand: Muslim woman threatened for practising Yoga

Ranchi: Rafia Naaz, a Muslim yoga practitioner from Jharkhand’s Ranchi was allegedly threatened after she gave an interview on a TV channel.
Two days after unknown people threatened her some unknown assailants pelted stones at Rafia’s house this Saturday.

She was caught in a controversy after she appeared on a TV channel for an interview.

An irate mob soon gathered outside Yoga Practitioner Rafia’s house and started stone pelting and sloganeering against her.

A man identified as Faiz Ullah who messaged her said, “I am a well-wisher. You being a Muslim girl should be ashamed of yourself. How can you perform on the stage without hijab?”

Despite the threats, Rafia plans to continue her Yoga practice and teach Yoga since it is not in contradiction with the religion she said to the media.

Reacting to the controversy, yoga guru Baba Ramdev said, ”From Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan to Saudi Arabia so many Muslims practice Yoga. It is an exercise which is good for mental and physical wellness.”
